Abortion The title of the scholarly journal article I read is called Making Abortion rare and safe. Abortion is the process where you end pregnancy before the fetus is born, which therefore deceases the fetus. This article is important because this subject has become very prevalent worldwide. Abortion is developing a high increase in numerous of countries, therefore there needs to be a safer abortion awareness or to even make it infrequent in non-serious cases. The author, Duff Gillespie, started of this article by explaining to the audience how important and severe abortion is to women. Gillespie wrote that in the United States, there is a serious debate on women’s right to control their bodies against letting a healthy fetus live. This shouldn’t be a serious case because all women do have the right to control their bodies, but when it comes to a fetus, they have to think twice. Throughout time, many literature works of art have shown the common theme of man with the mindset that he is the superior being in control. Around the 1830s, literature took a turn from the romantic view of the world to a more natural take of the universe. One of the better portrayals of this naturalistic view is Stephen Crane’s â€Å"The Open Boat† in which the short story exhibits the lives of four men cast out at sea after their steamer, the Commodore, sank and they were then forced to take refuge in a life boat. A Tragedy Averted Free Essays

On the 2nd of November, year 2006, an almost-tragic event happened in the roads of Kalipayan, here in Tacloban City. I was in the 6th grade at the time and it was All Souls’ Day. My relatives and I went to the cemetery to visit the grave of my late grandfather, who passed away in June of the same year. My mom was busy conversing with my aunt about important matters when the jeepney came to a halt, letting a passenger off near the bend on the road. All of a sudden; a man, out of nowhere, snatched my mom’s bag and immediately jumped off the vehicle. It seemed like time was stopped and everyone was left in a trance. Not wasting any more precious time, I jumped off the vehicle and chased the snatcher – who was carrying a small knife – until I came to a dead end. I got a little frightened for the path where the snatcher ran off to was narrow and looked like a ledge and one small step would have led me drenched in the water. I ran back to the main road and finding relief in the presence of light posts, I jogged to a walk and tried to catch my breath. Going back to the jeepney where my mom, sister and aunt were waiting – all the while anxious about my sudden departure – I found men and bystanders gathering around my mom’s bag. Turns out, the snatcher dropped the bag and only stole my mom’s mobile phone and didn’t touch the other paraphernalia in the bag. Thankfully, my mom was pretty clever in keeping our passports and other essential things in a plain-looking plastic bag. The snatcher probably thought it was just trash and decided to discard it. We went back to the jeepney and arrived safely in our house. My sister was in a state of shock while my mom was truly grateful for the essentials that were left unharmed. I was mainly disappointed that I wasn’t able to catch the criminal but nevertheless thankful that I was given enough courage by God to chase the snatcher and got out of that situation without facing any threat or danger. Firstly, she reviewed the risk by taking under consideration its profile. She carried out risk assessment tasks by checking its background and quality. Secondly, she made sure that all the riskmanagement tools are available or not. A set of risk management tools must always be available, that is, a risk register, platform tool, strategic management plans and others. It will help in sustaining the work and lessen the amount of risk. Thirdly, whenever she faced any risky situation, she decided to communicate the problem to all of its members and staffs. Hiding or concealing facts will not help in controlling the situation; rather it may even worsen the condition. Therefore, it is the duty of any leader to convey all the information to its employees or associates. At times, taking suggestions and opinions from them may help the leader to face the risky situation. Chin seeks advice from her makeup artist, employees or associates and implements their ideas and opinions. This motivates them to a huge extent and makes them feel that they are an important part of the company. Conclusion To conclude, a leader must have certain qualities to influence his/her followers. He/she must be responsive towards his/her followers. Being a leader is not easy; he/she needs to think out of the box and choose the best option. A leader acts as an inspiration to many people. Therefore, he/she must provide constant support and motivation to the followers. Not everyone can become a leader without these skills. Good leaders help in creating a team to achieve a common goal or vision. In order to create a team, a leader at first must be able to understand the team dynamics. He/she needs to make sure that the team members have all the necessary abilities and skills to achieve the common goal for the companys success. Moreover, a leader has the responsibility for bringing in high values to any organization. Respecting differences of each and every individual proves to be beneficial at any workplace. It creates competitiveness and increases work productivity as well. It is the duty of the leader to promote cultural diversity at the workplace by applying proper management tools, in order to have a successful behavior. A leader should be responsible towards its employees or followers. He/she requires certain number of skills which help them interact positively with their staff members. One needs to communicate succinctly and clearly with his/her followers to explain the goals of the organization. A good and effective leader is the reflection of a successful organization. If a person doesnt believe in his/her own self and have less confidence, then he/she can never become a successful leader.
